We built Blacktropolis to connect people and businesses—not to sell your data. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, and your choices. Short, plain English. No shady data hustle.
Who we are

What we collect
- Info you share: account details, business listings, photos, reviews, messages, and form submissions.
- Location (optional): if you use “near me,” your device may share location to find nearby listings.
- Automatic data: IP, device/browser type, pages viewed, timestamps, cookie IDs (for login, preferences, security).
- Embedded services: maps or media providers may receive your IP/device info when you view their embeds.
- Payments (if enabled): handled by processors (e.g., Stripe/PayPal). We don’t store full card numbers.
Why we use it
- Run the site: sign-ins, listings, search, maps, geolocation, reviews, moderation.
- Improve & protect: troubleshooting, analytics, performance, security, and anti-fraud.
- Communicate: account notices, support replies, and (with consent) occasional updates you can opt out of.
How we share
- Service providers: hosting, analytics, email, security, maps, and payments—only to operate the platform.
- Public content: listings, photos, and reviews are public by design.
- Legal/safety: when required by law or to protect people and property.
- Business changes: if we’re part of a merger/acquisition, your info may transfer with safeguards.
We don’t sell your personal information.

- Essential: keep you logged in, remember preferences, and secure your session.
- Functional/analytics: help us understand what’s working (without turning your life into an ad profile).
You can block cookies in your browser; some features (login, “near me,” maps) may not behave without them.

- Access/update/delete: email us to access or delete your account data.
- Marketing opt-out: unsubscribe links are in every marketing email.
- Location controls: manage permissions in your browser/device settings.
- Region-specific rights: where applicable (e.g., California, EU/UK), you may have rights to access, correct, port, or restrict processing. Contact us and we’ll handle it per local law.
Data retention
We keep information as long as needed to run the service and meet legal/security obligations. Delete your account or ask us to remove data and we’ll process it as required; some logs may persist for security or legal reasons.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards. No online system is 100% hack-proof, but we take protection seriously and keep improving.
Children
Blacktropolis isn’t for children under 13 (or the age required in your region). If a child submitted data, contact us and we’ll address it.
Changes
If we make big changes, we’ll update the date above and, when appropriate, notify you through the site or by email. This page always has the latest version.
