Xavier University of Louisiana, located in New Orleans, is the nation’s only historically Black and Catholic university. Xavier is dedicated to preparing students to assume leadership roles in society and is renowned for its success in producing African American medical school graduates.

Xavier sits in New Orleans’ Gert Town with a mission that’s unusually focused: liberal-arts foundation, health-sciences muscle, and a spiritual center that actually shows up in the day-to-day. The calling card is outcomes. Xavier’s pre-med pipeline and College of Pharmacy are perennial national producers, and the university is building on that with the Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine now moving through setup and accreditation steps downtown in the BioDistrict.
