Serving with Compassion, Empowering with Hope
The Nation’s First Black-Run Food Bank, serving food, hope and love. 💜
The StoreHouse is the nation’s first Black-run food bank, dedicated to fighting food insecurity and serving families across the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) and South Carolina. Founded on principles of love, dignity, and community empowerment, The StoreHouse partners with local leaders, schools, and organizations to provide barrier-free access to healthy groceries, fresh produce, and essential resources. Their bi-monthly drive-thru distributions and special events have served over 1 million pounds of food and supported more than 50,000 families, making a historic impact in the region.
More than just a food bank, The StoreHouse is a movement—uplifting spirits, nourishing bodies, and building a future free of hunger. Through volunteer opportunities, community partnerships, and a commitment to service, The StoreHouse continues to expand its reach, offering hope and practical support to those who need it most. Their mission is to serve with compassion, one heart at a time.
