Pressed Roots was founded in 2020 by Piersten Gaines, a Harvard MBA who experienced firsthand how standard salons fail textured hair care needs. Inspired to merge boutique service with deep hair expertise, she launched a salon concept rooted in consistency and cultural competence. Since then the brand has raised over $3 million from investors including Naomi Osaka, Howard Schultz’s foundation, and Slauson & Co., and scaled quickly through pop-up salons followed by permanent locations in Dallas, Plano, and Arlington, TX.
As of now, Pressed Roots does not operate a permanent salon location in Atlanta or anywhere in Georgia—only pop-up shops were held there in early testing.
