Radical Books. Real Community.
Noname Book Club is a grassroots, worker-owned cooperative and literary community dedicated to connecting people—both inside and outside of carceral facilities—with radical, thought-provoking books. Founded in 2019 by artist and activist Noname (Fatimah Warner), the club uplifts works by Black, Indigenous, and other authors of color, fostering critical conversations around race, abolition, capitalism, and social justice. Each month, the club spotlights a new book and encourages members to read, discuss, and build community through political education and collective action.
The club’s reach is national and international, with over 20 chapters across the United States and several abroad. Its headquarters, the Radical Hood Library in Los Angeles, California, is a vibrant community space hosting open-mic nights, film screenings, and “Kid’s Black Power Reading Hour.” Noname Book Club is especially known for its prison program, which sends free books and discussion materials to thousands of incarcerated members every month, bridging the gap between inside and outside communities. The club is powered by donations and Patreon supporters, making all resources free and accessible to anyone who wants to join the movement for liberation through literature.
