Harlem Stage

Where Harlem’s cultural legacy meets contemporary performance

Whispered.
Silenced.
Erased.
Ignored…
But not lost.

Our stories endure —

Waiting… waiting for the STAGE
to set untold stories free.

Harlem Stage is a cornerstone of New York’s performing arts landscape, committed to bridging Harlem’s historic cultural identity with boundary-pushing contemporary arts. Housed in the beautifully restored Gatehouse (a landmark of NYC’s Croton Aqueduct system), it provides performance, rehearsal, and support spaces for visionary artists and communities. With a mission rooted in artistic freedom, Harlem Stage presents theater, dance, music, and interdisciplinary works—especially those by artists of color. Its education programs and community engagements are integral: they serve public schools, commission new works, and host dialogues that expand Harlem’s role as a creative incubator.
